From Sept 4th to 5th, our office had an overnight “retreat” (kind of like camping).
The retreat took place at West Point Inn located on top of Mount Tam.
We had several seminars, such as personal journery mapping exercise, culture of feedback, organizational development dialogue, implications of global scenario planning, and next step.
All seminars helped me recognize and reshape the strong connection between my personal background and GFN's mission, and make it clear what I can contribute to next step of GFN development.
You can easily imagine how delicious a food would be when eating around such a rich nature and wonderful people!
The following morning, I joined a morning yoga practice. Indeed, I took yoga class for beginners last year at Santa Monic college.
After one hour's practice, I could feel the tense in my body went out, and my mind was calm as if my soul melted into the surrounding nature.
Mathis was holding me up: Mathis Wackernagel, Ph.D., is co-creator of the Ecological Footprint and the executive director of Global Footprint Network. I first saw him and the concept of EF on the book, Our Ecological Footprint in Japanese version (translation supervisor: Yoshihiko Wada, Ph.D). Since then, I had dreamt about working with him.
Indeed, my dream came true. It can be said, "That's one small step for mankind, one giant leap for me!"
I strongly believe that Mathis's academic deepness, thoughts on the future of the earth, and his sense of humor will shift our society to the way of "living one planet."
